THE STORY

“Love Makes Anything Possible ... Love and Meat.”

Kate wakes from a two-and-a-half-year coma in a run-down Texas hospice. Her fiancé Ben is dead. Her friends blame her. And she can't remember a thing about the night that destroyed all of their lives.

Kicked out with nothing but eighty dollars and a borrowed dress, Kate turns to her old friends for help — and discovers every one of them wants her gone. They won't explain. They won't help. And they're all hiding the same secret.

Haunted by a dark figure with burning red eyes, Kate learns from the hospice nurse Olga about the Draug'r — an ancient entity that can restore the dead. The price is steep, and it's due before dawn.

What comes back isn't quite Ben. He's ravenous. He's unstoppable. And as the two of them tear through the Texas night, the truth Kate's been chasing finally starts to surface.

By the time the sun rises, everyone will have paid for what they did.

THEMES

Love Beyond Death

How far would you go to hold on to the person you love? Kate digs up her fiancé's grave, invokes an ancient evil, and rides shotgun while he eats his way across Texas. Love makes anything possible. Love and meat.

Guilt & Betrayal

Everyone in Kate's circle is keeping the same secret. The accident wasn't her fault, the alibis don't hold, and the people who swore to protect each other are the ones who buried the truth — along with Kate's fiancé.

Memory & Denial

Kate can't remember the night that destroyed her life. Her friends won't tell her. And when the truth finally comes, it's worse than anything she imagined.

The Price of Resurrection

The Draugr doesn't give gifts — it makes deals. Seal it in blood, kill every guilty soul before dawn, or lose everything. The question isn't whether you can bring someone back. It's what comes back with them.

SETTING

Set against the desolate beauty of small-town Texas — Tahuacana, Corsicana, and the dark roads between them. Truck stops, diners, cemeteries, and pawn shops line the empty highways where everyone knows everyone else's business. Except the one secret they all agreed to keep.
